What's a Watershed
A watershed is how water drains off the land from smaller bodies of water to bigger bodies of water.
Scientist and geographer John Wesley Powell defines a watershed by showing how everything in a watershed is connected, “that area of land, bounded hydrologic system, within which all living things are inextricably linked by their common water course and where, as humans settled, simple logic demanded that they become part of a community.”
Like every community, Forest Grove has its own watershed. And, there are multiple parts to our watershed. Our water starts in a beautiful, city owned forest where one can find Clear Creek.
Clear Creek flows into Gales Creek
Gales Creek flows into the Tualatin River
Tualatin River flows into the Willamette River
Willamette River flows into Columbia River
Columbia River flows into the Pacific Ocean
